PHYSIOLOGY:
Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) may be the most valuable of all the antioxidant nutrients. In addition to neutralizing both oxygen and nitrogen free radicals, ALA has been studied for its ability to repair oxidative damage, to regenerate other antioxidants and chelate excess metals. As one of many substances produced by the body in large quantities in young people, its production declines with aging.
