Products that may be near or at the expiration date. Expiration dates are a guide line that the industry is required to use. If a product expires on February 2, 2008 was it still good on February 1st. 2008? Of course it was. In fact many products are good for years past the expiration date. The other area of quality which is rarely discussed is the age of the raw materials that are going into the products. Statements like this at times upset the manufacturers, these are the ones not following the rules. The information below will explain the details on expiration dates.
Homeopathic Products
Most people know that regulations require all homeopathic remedies to have expiration dates and that homeopathic remedies do not expire.
Herbal Products
Slowly weaken with age. They hold close to their full strength for 3 years then slowly loose potency over the following 2 years of the expiration date.
Vitamin Mineral Supplements
Slowly weaken with age. Quality B vitamins will not usually be good past the expiration date, but most all other vitamin supplements will last a year or two after expiration date.
Enzymes
Slowly weaken with age. They usually will last one year past the expiration date.
Amino Acids
Slowly weaken with age. Quality Amino acids will usually last a year or two after expiration date.
Juices (Liquid)
Slowly weaken with age. They usually will last one year past the expiration date.
Please note: Some of these items may have less than one year from expiration date or close to expire.
The higher quality and grade of supplement the longer they will last exceeding the expiration date.
Do not refrigerate vitamin supplements unless they are all food made or the label tells you to.
