Magnesia Phosphorica - Boericke & Tafel, Nature's Way

Magnesia Phosphorica the homeopathic remedy is made from magnesium phosphate, one of the Tissue Salts. It has an anti-spasmodic effect. It is for the temporary relief of aches and pains associated with muscle cramps or spasms.

Constitutional indications:
Magnesia phos. is most beneficial to people who are thin, dark, nervous, tired and exhausted.

Characteristics:
Pain may feel sharp or excruciating. Pain feels better from warmth or pressure.

Mental symptoms alleviated:
Inability to think clearly; moaning and complaining.

Physical symptoms alleviated:
Headaches made worse by mental exertion; dizziness brought on by movement; tendency to fall forward when eyes are closed; involuntary, jerky movements of face, hands and arms; in teenage girls, a red, flushed face; neuralgia in right eye or right ear, made worse by washing in cold water; toothache which improves with heat; ulcers on gums, accompanied by swollen neck glands; teething trouble; hiccups; retching, weak or twitching muscles; cramping, nervy pains which improve with warmth and pressure but worsen with cold and strenuous exercise; writer's cramp; belching which does not relieve stomach discomfort; craving for cold drinks; abdominal pain and wind, relieved by warmth and pressure; bloated, distended abdomen, relieved by loosening clothing, walking about or passing wind; period pains, relieved by heat, or early periods, with dark, stringy discharge; constipation.

The above symptoms are almost always relieved by warmth, pressure and bending double; they tend to be worse on the right side and at night, and can be exacerbated by touch, undressing and cold.

Antidoting remedies:
Belladonna, Gelsemium, Lachesis.

This remedy is often helpful for painful teething, relieved by pressing on the painful area and by heat. The baby may seem happier when drinking something warm from a cup or bottle, or when biting down on an object. A warm washcloth or hot water bottle held against the cheek may also help relieve the pain.
